Hard Freeze in Western Canada

The Canadian prairies experienced a hard freeze overnight.  Temperatures fell to 23 F (-5 C) in Saskatchewan and western Alberta.   This may be trouble for spring wheat, barley and canola where crops were not entirely mature.    More advanced maturity in Manitoba crops suggests only slight damage, if any.

Sub-freezing temperatures affected the prairie provinces overnight down to 18 F at the coldest.   A freeze kill  would have damaged yields in immature crops... subscribers continue to full story...
