Ukraine 2012 Corn Losses May Be Extreme

Record heat and severe drought is expected to shrink the Ukraine corn harvest in 2012, despite a 25%  increase in plantings.

Very heavy rainfall has developed in Ukraine in August,  but  it may be too late for corn stressed by intense summer heat.  

Corn may be a total loss in some areas of the grain belt because of  intense summer heat  and drought.    Maximum temperatures exceeded 95 F (35C) on seventeen days  in  July and August.  Temperatures of 100 F or higher were observed on six of those days.  Kirovograd is a representative weather station in the Ukraine corn belt... subscribers continue to full story...
