Drought has not been cured in hard red winter wheat. Low topsoil moisture was reported October 16 in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, despite heavy rainfall previously, 2 inches on average. The heavy rain apparently got soaked up by thirsty fields, not improving field moisture very much.
